From Free Reign to Community Table
Wood-fired, coastal concept Free Reign tested out its menu in food hall Workshop for the past three months, and now it’s ready to go permanent in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood I’On. Owners Ryan and Kelleanne Jones will take what they learned from their time at 1503 King Street to open Community Table at 148 Civitas Street in the first floor of the Inn.
Set to open in November, Community Table hopes to be a neighborhood restaurant with fine-dining-worthy dishes in a casual setting. Some dishes from the Workshop menu included Carolina shrimp served with crusty bread, hanger steak with chimichurri and fingerling potatoes, and heirloom tomatoes with burrata. The I’On restaurant will have a full bar stocked with cocktails and fresh-squeezed juices.
Community Table will open daily for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Jones’ first home in Charleston was in the I’On neighborhood, so they are already a part of the community. They were approached by the owner of the Inn to take over the downstairs space. They’ve made it over into a “bright, but rustic, farm-inspired design.”
